๐ŸŒŸ Matthew Beynon, a dedicated Volunteer Communications Manager at Tullett, left his bike behind and came by car from Thirsk to deliver his talk to Barnsley U3A! ๐Ÿš—Matthew shared his experiences with humor and compassion, painting a vivid picture of the incredible 1300cc bikes for all the petrol heads in the audience. ๐Ÿ๏ธโœจLet’s give a big round of applause to Matthew Beynon for his outstanding dedication and contributions to our community! ๐Ÿ‘ Fun fact: Barnsley now hosts the specialist blood services at Capitol Park near M1 Junction 37, Dodworth, replacing centers in Sheffield and Leeds! ๐Ÿš‘

Group of the Week

Welcome to the Solo Group!

I’m excited to share that I’ve taken the reins of the Solo Group from Trish, who has done an incredible job for quite some time! ๐ŸŽ‰ With dedication and passion, I aim to continue the fantastic legacy Trish has built, supported by the invaluable contributions of Pauline, our expert organizer of fun-filled days out, and John, our maestro of mouth-watering meal arrangements. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Join us for delightful meals, whether it’s during the day or in the early evening, perfect for those “early bird specials.” ๐ŸŒ… Our trips are always a blast, ranging from nostalgic 40s events to scenic canal boat rides with delicious meals, not to mention exciting outings to the local theater or cinema! ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŽฅ

Each month, we’ll keep things fresh with a variety of activities, including entertaining quizzes (music, general knowledge, local trivia), engaging games (beetle drive, play your cards right, triominoes, and more), and enlightening guest speakers. ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽฒ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Don't miss out on the fun! Join our WhatsApp group, where we share event times, outing details, coach pick-up locations, meal arrangements, and coordinate lifts and car shares. ๐Ÿ“ฒ Let's make lasting memories together! ๐Ÿ’ซ #SoloGroup #FunTimes #Community #JoinUs

You don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy history.

This morning, we had a great time at The History Group with a double treat! ๐ŸŽ‰ John and Ingrid took us on a thrilling Viking Cruise from Ginnungagap to Ragnarok—spanning from before Creation to the End of the World! ๐Ÿšข๐Ÿ”ฎ There was no need to book your ticket; you just turned up and joined the adventure!๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝBut wait, there's more! In the second half, Andrew enlightened us about the Viking legacy on place names. ๐Ÿž๏ธ Plus, we got our thinking caps on for a quiz with prizes! ๐ŸŽ Andrew even did some research on the villages in our local area— who would have thought Birdwell meant fertility? Talk about a true Viking exploration! โš”๏ธ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝDidn't miss out ๐ŸŒŸ if you’re not a U3A member, then this is just one more reason to join.   bu3a.org.uk
